Technical Requirements for Seamless Learning

Before diving into our seasonal financial planning programs starting September 2025, let's make sure your setup is ready. You don't need fancy gear, but certain basics help you get the most from our interactive modules and live sessions.

What You Actually Need

Most people already have what they need to start. We built our platform to work across different devices because we know not everyone has the latest tech. If you can stream a video and open a spreadsheet without waiting ten minutes, you're probably fine. Here's what matters most when you're working through budgeting exercises or joining our quarterly planning sessions.

Desktop and Laptop Systems

  • Windows 10 or later, macOS 11 or newer
  • 8GB RAM minimum (16GB better for multi-tab workflows)
  • Current Chrome, Firefox, Safari, or Edge browser
  • 15-inch screen recommended for spreadsheet visibility
  • Webcam and microphone for group discussions
  • 10GB free storage for downloadable resources

Tablets and Mobile Devices

  • iOS 14+ or Android 10+ for app compatibility
  • 10-inch tablet ideal for financial calculators
  • Smartphones work for videos and quick reviews
  • Updated mobile browsers essential for security
  • Touch-friendly interface optimized for iPads
  • Portrait and landscape modes both supported

Audio and Visual Setup

  • Headphones reduce echo during live sessions
  • Built-in speakers work fine for solo study
  • External webcam optional but helpful
  • Good lighting improves video call quality
  • Dual monitors useful for comparing documents
  • Screen recording capability for personal notes

Software That Makes Things Work

We don't force you into expensive subscriptions. Most tools you need are free or already installed. The paid options are there for people who want deeper analysis, but plenty of our graduates got through with just the basics.

Essential Applications

  • Google Sheets or Excel for budget templates
  • PDF reader for course materials and guides
  • Zoom or similar for monthly group calls
  • Email client that supports attachments
  • Password manager for account security
  • Cloud storage like Dropbox or Google Drive
  • Note-taking app for tracking progress

Recommended Add-ons

  • YNAB or Pocketbook for expense tracking
  • Notion or Trello for goal organization
  • Calculator app with percentage functions
  • Screen capture tool for saving examples
  • Calendar app synced across devices
  • Banking app for real-time balance checks
  • Slack or Discord for peer discussions

Internet Connection Reality Check

Australian internet speeds vary wildly depending where you live. We've tested our platform across different connection types. You can participate from regional areas, though streaming quality might adjust automatically. Download speeds matter more than upload for most activities, except when you're sharing your screen during coaching calls.

Minimum Speed

5 Mbps download handles video lessons at standard definition. Occasional buffering during peak hours. Good enough for rural connections.

Recommended Speed

25 Mbps download gives smooth HD streaming and quick file downloads. Live sessions run without interruption. Typical NBN 25 plan works well.

Optimal Experience

50+ Mbps supports multiple devices simultaneously. Screen sharing and interactive tools respond instantly. NBN 50 or higher ideal.

Inside Our Learning Environment

The platform looks clean and straightforward. No confusing menus or hidden features. Everything you need sits right where you'd expect it. Here's what you'll see when you log in each week.
